Lockdown music
While communities around the world are in various degrees of lockdown, one of the fun side-effects is the variety of musicians either gigging live online or recording and releasing from isolation.
A few of my favourites so far:
- Martyn Joseph playing live and taking requests from his home studio. Also, he’s released a double A-side raising money for the Cavell Nurses’ Trust. I’ve been a fan of Nye (Song for the NHS) since I discovered it last year. You could consider buying it.
- Neil Finn has been posting at-home covers on YouTube. Here he is playing Heroes.
- Barenaked Ladies have been posting their #SelfieCamJam videos for a few weeks. They’re all good, but Odds Are and Lovers In A Dangerous Time are my definite favourites. Maybe quite apt, too.
I’m sure there’ll be more, and loads already that I haven’t seen. We take the good where we can, and these are good.
